Malheuresement dès l'introduction on comprend que le seul FTTH sera la vraie solution pour le Très Haut Débit :
Although fiber to every home is the ultimate answer, it is not yet an economically
viable solution for overbuilding existing copper networks. This
is because fiber takes a long time to deploy and the cost of deployment
runs between USD 1,000 and 1,800 per subscriber. However, in Greenfield
building scenarios, fiber to the home (FTTH) is frequently seen as the best
way forward.
En moins d'un an Free & France Telecom semblent avoir résolu l'équation financière du FTTH.
Les déploiements FTTH commençeront au premier trimestre 2007.
